SRINAGAR, July 25: Police today said to have arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued here, police said that the officers of Police Post Zachaldara, at a checkpoint established at Sultanpora bridge, intercepted a person in a suspicious condition who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.
“He has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Sultan resident of Lachipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 190 grams of charas from his possession,” police said, adding that he has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 242/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and an investigation has been taken up.
