Drug peddler held with 500 kgs of poppy straw

SRINAGAR July 29: Police in Anantnag today said to have arrested a drug peddler and seized a huge quantity of contraband substance.
Police Station Mattan received information through reliable sources that one person namely Mohd Shafi Najar son of Gh Mohammad Najar resident of Mattipora Nanil has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded a huge quantity of contrabands in his residential house.
Accordingly, a police party headed by SHO Police station Mattan along with the Executive Magistrate raided the specific location.
“During the search, 500 Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered from the residential house of said person. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
A case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Mattan and an investigation was taken up.
