DRSC calls for developing tourism infrastructure along Mughal Road

SRINAGAR, Aug 6: A meeting of Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC-IV) of Legislative Council was held here today under the chairmanship of MLC, Vibod Gupta to review the working of Tourism Department.
Legislators Surinder Choudhary and Qaiser Jamsheed Lone gave their suggestions for the overall improvement and development of tourism infrastructure in the State.
The Committee stressed upon the officers of Tourism Department to make coordinated efforts for development of requisite infrastructure in the state because Coalition Government is committed to develop tourism infrastructure in left-out and uncovered areas.
The Committee observed that the need of the hour is to provide all requisite infrastructure at Nuri Chhamb, Dubjan, Dera Ki Gali, etc at Mughal Road like facilities of TRCs, Cafeterias, etc in view of heavy rush of tourists.
The meeting discussed various matters pertaining to the working of Tourism Development Authorities, steps taken to popularize new tourist destinations, promotion of pilgrim tourism and their future development, preservation of heritage buildings, status of TRCs and other Tourist Facilitation Centers.
The meeting also discussed status of various cable car projects, steps being taken to promote tourism along the historic Mughal Road besides promoting eco-tourism, in the State.
The Committee stressed upon the Tourism Authorities to take necessary steps for completing all ongoing projects of the department so that the people of the state benefit from the infrastructure of tourism.
Commissioner Secretary, Tourism Department, Shailendra Kumar apprised the committee about the functioning of the Tourism Department in all aspects besides physical and financial status of the department.
Director Tourism, Kashmir/Jammu, MD Cable Car Corporation, MD, JKDTC, CEOs from all Development Authorities and senior officers of Tourism and Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
