Driver tries to mow down traffic cops, one injured; attempt to murder case registered

JAMMU, Dec 24: A driver has been booked for trying to mow down Traffic Police cops during checking at Satwari Chowk.
In the incident, a traffic cop received injuries and an attempt to murder case has been registered against the accused driver, who escaped from the spot.
As per police sources, traffic cops while performing their duty at Satwari Chowk signalled a Creta car bearing registration number JK02CL-2547 coming from Jammu towards Gangyal to stop for documents checking.
As traffic Constable Sunil Kumar moved towards the vehicle to check the documents, the driver with criminal intention accelerated the vehicle and hit a cop SgCt Deepak Kumar, who got climbed on the bonnet of the vehicle.
The driver drove the car rashly and negligently for about one kilometer along with the intention to kill the cop on the bonnet, but the vehicle got stuck in jam near Cremation ground chowk Shastri Nagar and the SgCt Deepak Kumar was rescued by the passerby, who received injuries in the incident.
The driver managed to escape from the spot, while ASI Prem Sagar SO Traffic Satwari Jammu along with injured SgCt Deepak Kumar lodged a complaint in Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number FIR Number 338/2021 under Sections 307, 353, 279 and 332 IPC has been registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started.
The vehicle has been seized and hunt launched to nab the accused driver, while the injured cop was sent for treatment.
