Christmas celebrated with fanfare

JAMMU, Dec 24: Christmas festival was celebrated with fanfare today.
Delhi Public School Udhampur celebrated Christmas. English skit was also enacted highlighting the spirit of Christmas and the birth and sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sake of humanity. Kids sang carol adding to the festive atmosphere. Santa of Delhi Public School Udhampur who was dressed in red carried bags, distributed goodies and candies. Pro Vice Chairman of the school Dr JC Gupta expressed his delight on watching such enthusiasm in the children who brought the spirit of Christmas to life. MD of the school Vivek Gupta, Director Academics Sucheta Gupta and Principal Dr Kunal Anand were also present on the occasion.
Mount Litera Senior Secondary School Tarore celebrated Christmas with a noble cause “A Joy of Giving Campaign” with a tagline “What You Can Spare, They Can Wear” outside Swarn Theatre, Gandhi Nagar. The campaign was led by the Principal of the school Dr Rahul Kapoor along with the Litera team members as well as Litera parents. The chief guest of the day was Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation while Deepak Digra SP South Jammu, Dr AK Kapoor MD MLSS and PB Kapoor, Chairperson, MLSS were the special invitees. Many notable people of the society were also present.
Christmas bonanza with fun and frolic and interactive sessions was organized by Jammu Sanskriti School, Jammu for parents and students. Special assembly on the occasion showcased melodious colours. School also encouraged students, teachers, parents and community to be the “Santa in someone’s life” by donating blankets and warm clothes to the needy. Many activities were organized for the students and parents. Counselling session by the school counselor was like cheery on the cake. Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson Rohini Aima addressed the gathering.
Christmas was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at Sunrise Public School, Channi Himmat. The students shared the background of the existence of Santa Claus. Carols echoed in the campus. The students also narrated the story of Charles Dickens’ ‘Christmas Carols’ to communicate the meaning of Christmas to all present. Students presented power packed dance performance, sang Jingle Bells while Santa Claus distributed sweets to the children. The Xmas trees and Santa danced to the exciting tunes followed by a Christmas skit. The speech was given by Santosh and Ritu with full enthusiasm. Manpreet Kour Director of the Sunrise Educational Trust and Mrs Rajesh Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Christmas was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at Carmel Convent School, Jammu. A special programme was organized to celebrate the day with the staff members. Principal Sr Maria Swati shared the background of the existence of the day followed by a prayer service. The power-packed carol singing competition between the staff was the highlight of the event and was judged by retired teachers of Carmel, Harpreet Kour and Harpal Kour. The programme correspondingly included games, competitions, exchange of gifts, and more such things which made everyone happy and excited.
RM Public School celebrated Christmas in its premises. The school was tastefully decorated in colours of red, white and green with Christmas tree, Santa Claus the crib of baby Jesus and star being a part of decorations. A cultural extravaganza was organized where the teachers presented dances and sang Christmas carols besides highlighting the importance of the day and shedding light on the teachings of the Christ. Chairman of the school Rameshwar Mengi blessed the children. Director of school Rakshan Mengi, Vice Principal Kaajal Bhasin and many others were present on the occasion.
Sarv Dharam Samiti distributed gifts to all Safai Karamchari on the eve of Christmas and give message of unity of all religions under the presidentship of Amardeep Singh. Among others present were Surinder Mishra, Vikesh Amba, Ashwani Sambyal, Municipality President Pawan Kohli, Vice President Rajni Sambyal, Corporator Indu Jamwal, etc.
