Driver killed, helper injured as truck plunges into gorge

RAMBAN, May 26: A driver was killed, while his helper was injured, when the truck they were travelling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Seri area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK12-9617 was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into gorge near Seri area, resulting into on the spot death of the driver and injuries to his associate.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals, shifted him to District Hospital, where he was responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
The body of the deceased identified as Mohammad Mansha, son of Abdul Gani, a resident of Jindrah district Jammu was retrieved from the gorge and after completing legal formalities, handed over to family members for last rites.
The injured has been identified as Mohammad Younis, son of Sher Ali, a resident of Jindrah, district Jammu.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
