JAMMU, June 5: Jhajjar Kotli police arrested a driver and his associate along with 36 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Rajesh Khajuria and assisted by PSI Rajat Magotra raised a naka at Suketar and signaled a truck bearing registration number PB46M-0768 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the truck driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops thwarted his design and intercepted the truck.
During comprehensive checking, police recovered 36 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The arrested persons were identified as Baldev Singh, son of Mohinder Singh of Taran Taran, Punjab and Sardul Singh, son of Sulakhn Singh of Batala Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 99/2020 under Section 8/15/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and investigation started.
The arrest of the accused and recovery of consignment was made under supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma and SP Rural Suram Singh.
