JAMMU, Sept 9: Keeping hawks eye over smuggling of bovines to Valley, Jhajjar Kotli police today arrested a driver and his associate alongwith 3 milch animals.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Jhajjar Kotli police station laid a naka at new Katra-Domail road and signaled a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK14C-4839 to stop.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance.
During checking, police rescued 3 bovine animals and arrested the driver and his associate on the spot.
The accused have been identified as Sudam Hussain (driver), son of Sajjad Hussain of Kheri Laray, district Udhampur and his associate Mohammad Akbar, son of Mohammad Tufail, a resident of Harthayan, district Udhampur.
The accused were carrying the bovines to Valley, but police thwarted their bid.
A case under FIR Number 102/15 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has be registered at police station Jhajjar kotli and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Jhajjar Kotli police station Inspector Ravinder Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajeev Pandey.
