Srinagar, Sept 9: As their hunger strike continues for 9th straight day, the woman employees of National Youth Corps (NYCs) today staged a protest outside the residence of Chief Minister here.
The agitating female NYCs along with their parents assembled outside CM residence at Gupkar and demanded implementation of Cabinet order vis-à-vis their induction in 14 Government departments.
In the meanwhile, the NYC employees continued their protest sit-in and hunger strike at Pratap Park. The protesters reiterated their demand and urged the Government to implement 2014 Cabinet order.
On the directions of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti, the state’s Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu went to the hunger strike venue and assured the NYC employees that their demands would be redressed soon.
“However, the association of NYC employees weren’t satisfied with Minister’s assurance and decided to continue their hunger strike protest,” said a spokesman of the NYC in a statement.
