JAMMU, June 7: Kullian police under Operation Sanjeevani arrested a driver along with one kilogram poppy straw (bhukki).
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Kullian police post laid a naka and signaled a load carrier to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered one kilogram poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Shanti Swaroop, son of Sain Dass, a resident of Chohala.
A case under FIR Number 83/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Miran Sahib police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Kullian police post ASI Yougal made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Miran Sahib Inspector Ravinder Rakwal, SDPO RS Pura Surinder Choudhary and SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal.
