JAMMU, Dec 25: Dr Vikas Sharma, Asstt Professor in the Division of Biochemistry, Faculty of Basic Sciences, SKUAST-Jammu, has been conferred with HAHS Fellow Award for the year 2016.
While working on anticancer efficacy of Jammu Botanicals, Dr Vikas Sharma, son of Harbans Lal Sharma and Pushplata Sharma of Channi Himmat, was presented this prestigious award in recognition of his significant contribution towards the advancement of Basic Sciences. He has also been inducted in editorial board of one of the most prestigious journals of Medicinal Sciences of the Hind Society.
Dr Sharma has evaluated many local vegetables, spices and kandi fruits from Jammu region for their anticarcinogenic properties of which Desi karela, pudina, kandi amla, kari patta, bael, karonda, Jamun and phalsa were found more effective against various human cancer cells.
