JAMMU, Sept 18: The Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society here today elected its new working committee with Padamshree Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai as patron; Rashmi (Ruby) Sharma, president; Bharat Bhushan Gupta, working president; Kailash Gupta, vice president; Chandra Gupta, general secretary; Sukriti Chowdhary, joint secretary and Subhash Arya, treasurer.
Before this, the annual general body meeting of the Society was held after three years, as due to COVID-19 pandemic the meeting could not be held earlier.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Padmashree Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai, who was also the chief guest of the function.
The working president of Society, Ruby Sharma welcomed the chief guest and gave an overview of the functioning of the Society.
It was informed that the Society was started in the year 1983 and it was registered in the year 1988.
A handout of the Society stated that a number of activities were held since then and at present the Society runs two schools wherein one is Middle School at Rajeev Nagar and the other is Primary School at Trikuta Nagar Sector-5.
Total number of students in both the Schools is 704. Apart from this the Society has three crèches—two at Rajeev Nagar and one at Trikuta Nagar where very small children of slum areas are being looked after and provided nutrition and other facilities.
An overview of the activities of the society was presented by Yogita Bakshi and vote of thanks by Sukriti Chowdhary.
