JAMMU, Sept 18: “Emerging Technologies, Digital, Research & Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Circular Economy, Sustainability and Indian Knowledge Systems shall be a seven steps for young graduates who will shape India for the next 25 years during this Amrut Kaal period” said Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan.
Delivering the 36th Convocation Day address of SASTRA University, Pradhan highlighted the rate at which India is progressing in 5G, digital economy, creation of unicorns faster than China, etc. is only an indication of India’s past experience of being a global knowledge superpower.
He urged the graduates to enter their career ritual through this ‘Sapthapadhi’ wedded to the idea of India during Amrut Kaal.
Complementing the research efforts of SASTRA in 3D bio-printing, life sciences, RF communications, nanomaterial and sensors, battery technologies, Pradhan wanted universities to design innovative and integrated programmes, which have employment and entrepreneurship opportunities by using the NEP 2020 policy reforms.
Over 4,100 graduates including 72 PhDs received their degrees with special awards to the Best Doctoral Thesis, Best Outgoing Boy Girl graduate.
Dr Krishnaswami Alladi, Professor Mathematics, University of Florida and Chamu Krishna Shastry were also conferred honoris causa Doctor of Sciences and Doctor Letters for their contributions to Mathematics and Sanskrit respectively. Union Minister of State L Murugan also participated in the convocation.
