Dr Lahori delivers lecture on Cancer pain in Shillong

JAMMU, Nov 27: Dr Rohit Lahori, noted Pain and Palliative Care specialist posted at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar (Jammu) delivered lectures on the Cancer pain at annual National conference of Anaesthesia ‘ISACON’ held at Neighrims in Shillong.
Dr Lahori is the only pain specialist from Jammu and Kashmir invited for delivering lecture on Cancer pain, as Cancer is the Global epidemic and 80% of Cancer patients are detected in stage four in India. The integration of Pain and Palliative Care is the only modality left for such patients.
Government of J&K has started the National Palliative Care Program in all the district hospitals of the Union Territory with dedicated ten-bedded wards to provide Pain and Palliative Care services in these hospitals.
Directorate of Health Services Jammu has already trained 20 doctors and as many nurses for these hospitals in collaboration with IAPC (India Association of Palliative Care) and AIIMS New Delhi.
Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar (Jammu) is the first Palliative Care Center of J&K and the only District Hospital of India which has been designated out of 10 top hospitals as the Nodal Centre under the ICMR Project of AIIMS New Delhi for hand holding and strengthening the Palliative Care services in Northern India.
