In a one-to-one meeting, Dr Jitendra Singh was closeted with the Governor for over 45 minutes, during which the two discussed various ongoing development projects in the State as well as the current scenario. Prime Minister’s package of Rs.80,000 crore which was announced by Narendra Modi during a public rally at Srinagar also came up for discussion. The current status of the disbursal and the implementation of the projects was also assessed and it was concluded that there was need to put the implementation of the PM’s package on priority and expeditiously.
During the meeting, the issues related to PoJK refugees, West Pak refugees and people living along the border areas were also discussed.
Dr Jitendra Singh informed the Governor that over the last four years, the Modi Government had been very discreet and judicious in ensuring equivalent development as well as equivalent distribution of Central Funds for all the three regions of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir. He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been personally taking a keen interest and updating himself about important projects through his intervention during the monthly PRAGATI video conferences.
Dr Jitendra Singh, however, expressed satisfaction that over the last few weeks, several of the delayed projects had picked up pace.
While expressing his good wishes to Satya Pal Malik on taking over as the new Governor, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Malik’s political background and public profile will certainly help to ensure a better public outreach by the Raj Bhawan. He expressed the hope that the planned elections to the local bodies, both Municipalities and Panchayats, will be accomplished successfully under the new Governor.
Governor thanked Dr Jitendra Singh for his good wishes and said that he looks forward for active cooperation from all sections of society and from all regions. He said, he would be available to receive constructive inputs from different quarters.
