JAMMU, Sept 3: A large number of volunteers donated blood at a blood donation camp held in Blood bank premises of Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu.
The blood donation camp was organized by Dr Anil Kumar Dhar, a social activist and independent candidate from Jammu West Assembly Segment.
Dr Dhar has been organizing such camps in the past also to facilitate easy availability of blood and blood products at Blood Bank of GMC Jammu for poor and needy patients coming from far flung areas of the State.
Later talking to media Dr Dhar underlined the importance creating awareness about such events to add to the information of masses about blood donation as such and also about the fact that blood donation is a safe procedure and more and more healthy individual between 18 and 58 years of age should come forward for blood donation so that no life is lost because of non-availability of blood or blood products.
Dr Dhar thanked the Postgraduate Department of Transfusion Medicine and all the volunteers for their cooperation in making the camp a successful event.
