RAJOURI, Sept 3: The people held strong protest demonstration at Kalakote and Nowshera against Police and District administration for scuttling investigations into the alleged killings of two young sisters and police constable and demanded CBI probe into the matter.
A bandh was observed in Kalakote town as the people started protest demonstration and took out protest rally. Not only the relatives of the deceased persons but many people from their village and Kalakote town assembled near Bus Stand and then took out protest rally in the town. They moved to the Police Station and raised slogans against police and demanded action against the then SHO Kalakote Vikram Singh Parihar, alleging his direct involvement in the case. They alleged that both the sisters Urmil and Nisha and Constable Sanjay Kumar were murdered while police termed it as suicide case. They alleged that a local contractor Suri was also involved.
The agitators including Beopar Mandal members/ traders alleged that postmortem of the bodies of girls was not conducted and BMO concerned should be held responsible for it. Urmil was pregnant and it was murder of four persons and not three. They alleged that it was conspiracy to eliminate girls and constable while police gave it new twist. The people alleged that SIT was constituted by SSP Rajouri but it was just an eye-wash. Again, the so called Magisterial inquiry ordered by DC was just to befool public as local Tehsildar recorded statements of some people and passed on it to the administration. The fate of inquiries was not known to anybody. Capt Raj Kumar, a local activist was leading protest and later former MLA Ashok Sharma and another leader A G Kohli also joined. They also demanded CBI inquiry.
After taking out protest march, they moved to the office of Tehsildar and started protest dharna. Several leaders including Joint Action Committee member Capt Raj Kumar addressed the people. They submitted a memorandum to the Government through Tehsildar. Later ASP Nowshera Rakesh Kumar and SDPO also reached there. The people suspended agitation at around 4 pm and gave one week time to administration.
Meanwhile, the people from Bajnoa, Qila Darhal and several adjoining areas today took out protest rally and held strong protest demonstration near Bus Stand at Nowshera against Kalakote police. They two sisters Urmil and Nisha and Constable Sanjay Kumar were murdered at Thermal Colony, Kalakote on the intervening night of July 27 and 28, 2014 while police was trying to derail the investigation and shielding the real culprits. They alleged that SHO was involved in the case.
The family members and Sarpanch alleged that people had no trust in the inquiry being conducted by an Police and Tehsildar Kalakote. It was just eye wash and an attempt to protect the accused. They alleged that police avoided postmortem of the bodies of both the sisters while murder of Sanjay Kumar –former body guard of SHO Kalakote, was projected as suicide.
After taking out rally from main chowk to the market at Nowshera, the villagers moved to the office of SDM where they held dharna for over 3-4 hours. The movement of traffic was also disrupted.
