JAMMU, Mar 29: Dr Bharat Bhushan, Director, Social Welfare, Jammu has been conferred Rashtriya Gaurav Award by India International Friendship Society (IIFS), New Delhi in recognition of distinguished services.
The award was presented to Dr Bharat Bhushan by Justice Pramod Kohli, former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court in a glittering ceremony held at India International Centre, New Delhi, today. Justice Virendra Singh, former Chief Justice of J&K High Court, eminent educationist Dr Srikant Paul, Gurmeet Singh, secretary of IIFS, were among galaxy of noted personalities who shared the dais during award presentation ceremony.
Dr Bhushan was presented award keeping in view the multifarious services he is rendering to the society. He has been actively involved in activities related to environment, ecology, socio-economic upliftment of weak and under privileged sections of the society, planted more than 3000 plants, writing on issues of environment, pollution, global warming, women empowerment and emancipation pilgrim and adventure tourism. His write ups have been published in Weekly magazine, Daily Excelsior, Tribune etc.
He has the rare distinction of having active participation in Bharat Jodo Andolon which was launched in late eighties by noted Gandhian- Baba Amte. He has worked with noted environmentalist Mohan-G-Advani of Mumbai who developed technique of raising instant trees to protect the environment. He has been working as Honorary Animal Welfare Officer since last three decades, appointed by noted animal welfare activist and the then Chairman, Animal Welfare Board of India.
In 2015-2016, he actively participated in “Walk of Hope” padyatra launched by a noted saint, who promoted the concept of “Born Human, Be Human Every Step for Humanity”. Besides he is associated with Prajapati Brahma Kumaries Ishwariya Viswa Vidyalaya, Gandhi Global Family, Foundation for Amity and National Solidarity, New Delhi and some other social cultural bodies.
It is pertinent to mention here that these awards are given by India International Friendship Society every year to few men and women who have excelled in various fields of life.
