Dr Amn heads JKMPSS

JAMMU, Apr 16: Former addl secretary of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn has been elected as president of Jammu Kashmir Markazi Punjabi Sahit Sabha (JKMPSS).
A meeting of Punjabi literary organizations of Jammu & Kashmir was held at the residence of well-known Punjabi writer and Ghazal writer, Ajit Singh Mastana at Narwal, Jammu, under the chairmanship of Prof Surinder Singh Seerat, internationally acclaimed Punjabi Gazal writer.
During the meeting, it was resolved to revive the defunct ‘Jammu Kashmir Markazi Punjabi Sahit Sabha’.
Mastana expressed his concern over the challenges and issues related to Punjabi language and literature of Jammu and Kashmir since last few decades and proposed that the defunct organization needs to be revived.
Various issues related to Punjabi language, literature and culture were discussed during meet. Prof Surinder Singh Seerat said that the Markazi Punjabi Sahitik Sabha may be revived so that the Punjabi related challenges and issues can be addressed.
Prof Seerat proposed the name of Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, former additional secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for the post of president which was seconded by Dr Monojit and supported by everyone present in the meeting.
Dr AS Amn was unanimously elected the president and Ajit Singh Mastana, senior most and prominent Punjabi writer, poet and intellectual from Kashmir as vice-president, of the JKMPSS.
Devinder Singh Vishwanagrik, renowned Punjabi writer and former president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu; Harjit Singh former president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha R S Pura; Dr Baljit Singh Raina, president, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu and Bhupinder Singh Raina, eminent Punjabi novelist and poet also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the newly appointed office bearers and hoped that JKMPSS under them will witness better progress.
