JAMMU, Aug 24: The displaced persons from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir today held protest  demonstration, demanding early disbursement of  relief amount announced by the Prime Minister.
While demanding justice for the displaced persons from PoJK and other categories of refugees, the activists of  PoJK DPs’ Front 1947, 1965, 1971 (Camp and Non-camp) organised  protest programme at Exhibition Ground near Press Club, here today.  They also tried to take out rally but they were stopped by police.
The members of displaced families under the leadership of  Capt Yudhvir Singh Chib assembled near Press Club and started protest rally in the morning.  They  demanded that process of distribution of Rs 2000 crore package announced by Prime Minister be commenced without any more delay. They said over one and half year has passed but no such action has been taken. They claimed that this amount can not be treated as full and final package and as many other components of the package,  even recommended by the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) have been ignored.
The displaced persons including women activists under the banner of  Jammu and Kashmir PoJK DPs Front-1947, 65 & 71 held strong protest and said Government can not befool the refugees any more. They said that the notification issued by State authorities is not suitable and moreover,  very complex system has been devised to prepare the papers. They demanded that the  system be simplified and notification issued by the DC be amended.
Capt Chib said that Government has projected nearly 36,284 registered families while many unregistered families have been left out. They should also be registered. He further said that package was incomplete  as other issues with regard to political, social, education and reservation etc for their wards were set aside and not included in the package.  He also alleged that  concerned Revenue officials were not cooperating to get the old record form their respective offices.
He further demanded establishment of left out families of DPs not yet registered, grant of adequate compensation, maximum of Rs 50 lakh per family, ownership rights to DPs of EP properties,  issuance of ALC certificate to all DPs , reservation of 15 % to the wards of DPs in colleges,  universities, professional colleges, reservation in employment  and 24 Assembly seats.
Prominent among others accompanying Capt Chib included Jaipal Sharma,  Sakandhya Devi, Kulbir Singh, Kuldip Singh, Thoru Ram, Hari Singh, Pawan Slathia, Rasal Singh, Kehar Singh and others.
