JAMMU: Emphasizing the need for revival of Cooperative movement in the State, the Minister for Cooperatives & Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay today exhorted upon the youth and women folk in particular to be active participants of this movement so that their energies are channelized for good of the society.
The Minister was speaking at a seminar organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Union Limited. He said that Cooperative movement should not be confined to just celebrations but these have to be expanded and utilized for the progress and prosperity of the society.
The Minister appreciated the initiatives taken by the JK Cooperative Union and said that synergized efforts are needed to revitalize the cooperative societies in the State to make them economically viable. He also stressed on generating awareness to educate people about the basics of cooperative movement.
On the occasion, the Minister listened to the problems and grievances of the Marketing Societies associated with Jammu division.
Registrar Cooperatives Bashir Ahmad Bhat also spoke on the occasion and urged the officers of the Department to work with dedication to render better services to the people of the State.
Additional Registrar Cooperatives Anjina Tickoo, Chairman J&K Cooperative Union Rajesh Sharma, General Secretary J&K Cooperative Union G D Bakshi, officials of various Cooperatives and Chairmen of various Marketing Societies of Jammu Division were also present on the occasion.
