Don’t go to Russia, Nepali students told

Kathmandu, Sept 14:  The Nepal embassy in Moscow has told Nepali students to stop going to Russia lured by dreams of employment opportunities or gaining entry into Europe, saying the rosy picture did not exist and that students were increasingly getting into trouble.

One reason was that most Nepali students making it to Russia did not know the local language and were not tuned into the existing political situation as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, myRepublica reported.

The embassy on Tuesday appealed to all Nepali students and parents not to be lured by any false promises or allurements while traveling to Russia on student visa.

It is said that the Nepalis on student visa have been reaching Russia by paying hefty amounts of money based on false promises that they will get attractive employment opportunity in Russia or they can easily make it to the European countries.

The Embassy said there are no such opportunities and the people landing in Russia are facing difficulty due to language problems. It said that people getting into difficulties have been contacting the embassy for help to return home, the report said.

The families of some students have also been requesting the embassy to search for them, saying their children were out of contact.
