JAMMU, July 27: Dogra Sadar Sabha president Gulchain Singh Charak has said that Union Govt should not deplete national firm base in the J&K State, by ignoring Jammu region.
While addressing meeting of DSS Core Group here today, Charak, a former minister expressed great concern about the painful unabated bloodshed in Kashmir valley as also the terror funding mechanism exposed by the NIA and reported in press.
Charak highlighted the discrimination with the Dogras by successive Central and State Governments as also the biased reporting by the national and local media. He brought out that the heritage of Dogras was under neglect and the old heritage complex at Mubarak Mandi that was symbol of the diversity in unity is turned to ruin and is near collapse. He reiterated that the Dogra regions are being neglected in every field of development, education, jobs and other opportunities.
He warned that the J&K State is intact so far, because, of the nationalist population of Jammu and enemy is trying it’s best to pressurize Jammu by discrimination, changed demography, neglect and adverse propaganda. “Hold Jammu, to save the State and keep the nation intact” said DSS chief.
Ex- MLC Kupwara, Syed Rafiq Shah brought out that the struggle in Kashmir is not a battle of religions or communities. It is basically an outcome of the prolonged suppression of the non -Kashmiri majority of the State comprising more than 70-80 percent by the Kashmiri speaking minority. It all began with Pt JL Nehru and Sheikh Abdullah nexus who wanted to divide the erstwhile princely J&K State. Large non- Kashmiri speaking areas were therefore, allowed to slip into Pakistani hands and efforts of retrieving them were blocked by hook and crook.
Col (Dr) Virendra Sahi said unfortunately the national media has kept its focus only on the Kashmiri speaking minority ignoring the much larger population and geographical areas of Jammu and Ladakh that comprise 3/4th of the State. The imposition of Kahmiri language of the ruling minority over the vast non- Kashmiri population is one such example of Government’s hegemony.
Maj Gen ( Retd) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (ex-MLC) pointed out that there has been deliberated, planned conspiracy to eliminate the Dogra identity. GA Khawaja and others also endorsed the views of the secular ethos and regional affinity of the Dogras.
