JAMMU, Mar 22: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu has expressed its concern over the dilapidated condition of the road between Domail and Katra-Vaishno Devi.
It is unfortunate that the State Government does not attend to the important works in Jammu despite requests and pleadings by the people. Katra Vaishno Devi pilgrimage is the backbone of the economy of the Jammu, besides being the religious pilgrim of the people from the State and rest of the country.
In a statement issued here today Chamber said with the ensuing pilgrimage season at hand, the water supply at Katra town is in shambles, the road leading to Katra is in bad shape and the Government is not prepared at all to cope with the rush of the pilgrims during the next month. It seems that the Government has taken the people of Jammu for granted and keeps them as hostages due to reasons better known to them.
Chamber said that lean pilgrim season will not only affect the Katra town but the whole of Jammu region whose economy is dependent mostly on this pilgrimage. It is, therefore, the urgent demand of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Jammu that immediate attention on priority basis without any further delay should be paid to it.
The statement said the Chamber is registering this protest with the Government with a very heavy heart.
