Dogri adaptation of Shakespeare’s play staged

JAMMU, Mar 18: Natraj Natya Kunj, Cultural Society staged Dogri adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth-The Crown of Blood’ in Bikaner Theatre Festival, Rajasthan.
Director of the play Abhishek Bharti said the play is the story of Macbeth who is a courageous Scottish general not naturally inclined to commit evil deeds, but kills the king against his better judgment and afterward stews in guilt and paranoia. Toward the end of the play he descends into a kind of frantic, boastful madness. The problem, the play suggests, is that once one decides to use violence to further one’s quest for power, it is difficult to stop.
Speaking on the occasion, president of the Theatre Group, Kumar A Bharti said it’s a matter of gratification for the Dogri language and theatre that Dogri play is performed in a national festival.
The festival commenced on March 14 in which 25 teams from 15 States performed.
The cast comprised of Lalit sharma, Karan Mehra, Akshay Razdan, Aman Sharma, Mukesh Bakshi, Niharika Sakshi, Kanav Sharma, Karan, Anshika Sharma and Hema Shivgotra. Production was managed by Lalit Sharma and Akshay Razdan assisted it. Make-up was done by Shammi Dhamir, Sets was managed by Anshika, Hema and Priya Sharma, Costumes were done by Niharika Sakshi, Stage Manager was Manik and Rahul while Lights were done by Aditya Bharti, Music and Direction by Abhishek Bharti.
