Doda accident: One more succumbs to injuries, toll rises to 4

JAMMU, Dec 13: One more injured in the accident of rashly driven Tata Sumo carrying marriage party near Gangal area of tehsil Gandoh in the mountainous Doda district yesterday, succumbed to his injuries at District Hospital (DH) Doda today.
The deceased has been identified as Kalash Kumar, son of Vinod Singh of village Kahaljugasar.
The deceased was among eight persons, who got seriously injured in the accident and were undergoing treatment at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Changa, Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Gandoh and District Hospital (DH) Doda.
The bodies of all four dead persons in this accident were handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal-medical formalities.
The condition of injured admitted in PHC Changa and SDH Gandoh was stated be stable, when reports last came in today.
A case under relevant Sections in this regard stands registered at Gandoh police station and manhunt has been launched to nab the driver of the vehicle, who was still at large, when last reports were compiled today.
As reported, the ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK06-5275 carrying marriage party was on its way to village Changa from village Kahaljugasar, when the driver failed to negotiate sharp curve near Gangal, resulting into death of three persons and injuries to eight others. The accident took place due to negligent driving.
After getting information, police, Army and locals rushed to the spot, retrieved the dead bodies. The injured were also rescued and shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Changa, from where some of the injured persons were later referred to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Gandoh for specialized treatment.
