SRINAGAR, Aug 23: Doctor’s bodies today demanded adequate safety measures for the health care workers following the death of a pharmacist due to COVID-19 yesterday.
In this regard, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) held an e-meeting to express condolences with the family of pharmacist Bashir Ahmad Magray who died of Covid-19 in a Srinagar hospital.
The meeting was attended by all central members of the association where it demanded adequate safety measures for the health care workers across J&K.
President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik expressed condolence with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul. The deceased employee was working in the health department and posted at SDH Seer. He has actively involved in COVID related duties.
All the members of DAK took serious note of health care workers including doctors and paramedics increasing getting infected with the novel coronavirus.
General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar said that health care workers who are working in non-COVID sections of various hospitals are more prone to getting infected with as adequate protective measures are not taken in such areas.
DAK stressed the government to come up with an order whereby all cases of respiratory illnesses who have typical clinical-radiological evidence suggestive of COVID be isolated from non-respiratory patients.
Moreover, DAK demanded adequate personal protection equipment to all health care workers whether they are working in COVID or non-COVID areas.
Meanwhile, Dental Surgeons Society JK held (SDSJK ) was today expressed its concern was raised about the health of COVID warrior, Dr Saleem Jan, Senior Dental Surgeon, who contracted COVID while performing duty in Kokernag, Anantnag and has been referred from SDH Bijbehara to SKIMS.
Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad Banday, President SDSJK said that society stresses the Govt. and Health Department that Dr Saleem Jan should receive the best treatment at SKIMS and taken care of in the best possible way.
SDSJK also impressed upon the need for implementation of protocol laid down for the safety & the comfort of Health Care Workers and their families during the COVID crisis.
