JAMMU, May 2: A delegation of the Durga Nagar Welfare Coordination Committee (DNWCC ), comprising Sanjay Ganjoo, Behari Lal Raina, M.K. Razdan, C.L. Dhar, Members, Chand Ji Ambardar, Surinder Kumar, Dilip Bhat, Kuldeep Bakshi, and Ravinder Bhat-called on Jal Shakti Minister here, today to highlight pressing issues concerning to drinking water in the Durga Nagar, Dogra Nagar and adjoining areas.
The delegation brought to the notice of the Minister several long-pending grievances, including irregular and inadequate water supply, damaged and insufficient pipelines, the urgent need for construction of a dedicated water reservoir at Durga Nagar and installation of additional motors to ensure smooth and adequate distribution of drinking water, particularly in these areas which are facing acute shortages.
The Minister acted promptly and contacted the concerned Executive Engineer (XEn), PHE, on the spot to review the ground situation. He directed the officer to immediately undertake a detailed survey of the affected areas and submit a comprehensive report along with the estimated funds required for execution of the proposed works at the earliest.
The Minister further issued strict instructions to the concerned Department to ensure regular and adequate supply of drinking water without any disruption, especially in view of the rising temperatures and increasing public hardship.
During the meeting, the DNWCC delegation also submitted a memorandum outlining all the issues and demands. The Minister assured the delegation of timely intervention and necessary action to resolve the issues on priority.
The delegation expressed hope that the directions issued would translate into prompt action on the ground, bringing much-needed relief to the affected population.
