KARGIL, Dec 9: In order to take stock of pace of developmental activities besides stock and supply position, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Shalindra Kumar left for three days tour to Kargil district today.
Mr. Kumar met cross section of people at Drass and enquired about the availability of basic amenities, health facility and other essential commodities.
Accompanied by Executive Councillor for Rural Development, Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Kashmir, Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Superintendent of Police and Sub Divisional Magistrate, Divisional Commissioner interacted with the district and sectoral officers about the developmental scenario apace in the district.
Mr. Kumar directed the officers to ensure availability of all consumer goods and streamline the distribution system so as to provide satisfactory service to people of the district.
Divisional Commissioner said that in view of harsh winter season, district administration should leave no stone unturned in reaching to people with all necessary facilities.
Mr. Kumar directed revenue authorities to assess the damage caused to crops due to floods of summer season so that compensation to affected farmers would be sanctioned. He directed for extending financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to a fire victim namely Ab. Shakoor of Muradbagh village whose house was damaged by recent fire incident.
Divisional Commissioner also issued instructions to local authorities to provide two blankets each family in Mataeen and Pandras villages for winter use. He asked Forest Corporation to stock timber in Drass Sub-Division. He also inspected the pace of construction of Zojila tunnel.
