JAMMU, Jan 2: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today conducted a tour of Bhagwati Nagar area and took stock of upgradation works needed for development of the area.
He was accompanied by Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), Des Raj Bhagat, Superintendent Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control besides Revenue Officers and other concerned officers.
During his visit, the Div Com observed the road is in poor condition which needs to be urgently widened and repaired.
The Div Com took a round of Bhagwati Nagar area from Rotary to Indoor Stadium and inquired about the requirements for the development of the area.
He passed directions to the PWD for early start the work on widening of road from Bhagwati Nagar Rotary to Mini Stadium. He further asked the Irrigation Department for re-modelling and land escaping of the canal passing through the area. He also directed the PDD officials for early start the work on shifting of utilities.
The Div Com also asked the PWD for developing another alignment /alternative road along Tawi Band which leads to Yatri Niwas.
Later, he visited M A Stadium and inspected the ongoing works there. The concerned officers apprised the Div Com about the present status of work. The Div Com directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of ongoing works and ensure the completion of works well before Repubic Day. He also asked them to complete the work on approach road leads to stadium for smooth celebration of national event.
