SRINAGAR, July 25: In connection with the maintaining of law and order situation at all 17 Railway Stations established from Banihal to Baramulla and ensure safety of railway properties, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon convened a meeting of Railway authorities and reviewed the functioning of railway network in Valley.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Inspector General of Police Railways, Kashmir, Chief Area Manager Railways, Senior Superintendent of Police Control Room Srinagar, Senior Superintendent of Police Budgam, Deputy Director Tourism and other officers.
The Div Com reviewed the increasing rush of railway passengers and directed the Railway authorities for providing better railway services to the public. He also reviewed the law and order situation of Railway Stations and asked the authorities to ensure tight security around the Railway Stations.
Reviewing the functioning of railway network, the Div Com was informed that 26 trains are daily plying from Banihal to Baramulla and 28,000 passengers are daily travelling. He was informed that for better railway services being provided to the people 4 more trains have also been made available for this purpose.
The Div Com stressed upon the Railway authorities that no one should be allowed to travel on the roof of the trains and directed the Railway and Security officers to take strict action against the culprits. He was informed that a huge number of Indian and foreign tourists are also travelling through railways from Banihal to Baramulla and visiting Kashmir Valley.
