Div Com reviews measures to check swine flu

SRINAGAR, Feb 22: In order to check the spread of H1N1 virus (swine flu) in the Valley, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Rohit Kansal convened a meeting of officers here today and reviewed the measures taken by the hospital authorities in this regard.
In the meeting, Mr Kansal was informed that all hospitals of the Valley have been kept on alert to curb the swine flu spread in the Valley and for this purpose, necessary medicines and other facilities have been kept available in all health institutions. Besides, Isolation Wards have also been established in all hospitals in the Valley.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Pampori, Director SKIMS Soura, Dr. Showkat Ali Zargar, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman and other senior officers of divisional administration.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner visited Barzulla where a Control Room has been established to facilitate people.
Mr. Kansal also visited SKIMS Soura and inspected Isolation Ward set up there. He enquired about the medicare and other facilities being provided to the patients suffering from flu. He was informed that all possible medicare facilities were kept available for patients in the hospital.
He was informed that for the infected patients, separate wards were also set up in SMHS and C.D Hospital. He was also informed that all facilities to curb the swine flu spread have also been kept available in SMHS Hospital. In Chest Diseases Hospital Srinagar a preliminary OPD has been established and patients have been asked to visit the OPD, in case of a need.
Mr. Kansal appealed people to follow the instructions issued by the health institutions through print and electronic media so that the swine flu disease is controlled.
