Div Com inspects progress on Jambu Zoo

JAMMU, Feb 3: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today visited Jambu Zoo at Nagrota and inspected the ongoing works.
He was accompanied by Joint Director Tourism, Neelam Khajuria, Divisional Forest Officer Wildlife, Ajay Sharma besides other concerned officers.
He visited various sites including Cafeteria, Parking Space, Aviary, Leopard Enclosure, Tiger Enclosures, View Points, Lion Enclosures, Sambar Enclosure, Snake House etc.
The concerned officer gave a detailed presentation on the works done so far and works to be carried out in phase-I of the project including water reservoir, leopard closures, fencing, circular restaurant, public amenities etc. It was informed that cafeteria and viewpoints have been ready and work on aviaries is almost completed. The concerned officers also informed that tenders for road and aviaries have been floated.
He further informed that the main attraction in Jambu Zoo will be Asiatic Lion, Royal Bengal tiger, Black Beer, Marsh Crocodile, Black bugs etc. It will also have reptile chambers hosting the poisonous and non-poisonous snake. The Zoo will be one of the biggest in north India. It will also have open amusement theatre and park for children. The zoo will have battery operated cars and bicycle for the visitors to move around.
The Div Com asked the concerned officers to early start the work on main entry gate, cafeteria, development of water bodies, parks and road so that it could be thrown open for general public as soon as possible. He also asked for consulting experts dealing with wildlife and providing inputs for developing the Zoo on modern lines so that it would become one of the best wildlife parks in the country.
