Div Com inaugurates prog on COVID control

JAMMU, Apr 21: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K.Pole today inaugurated division wide training programme on COVID control & mitigation operations at Disaster Relief Force Headquarters here.
The programme aim to train more than 2500 forces of COVID-19 warriors, belonging to SDRF, Youth Services & Sports, Civil Defense, Home Guards, Red Cross volunteers & Volunteers from participating NGOs.
These COVID-19 warriors will be trained across Kashmir Division at block level in more than 250 batches, by a trained team of Community Process (ASHA) trainers.
Speaking on the occasion Pandurang K.Pole said that the aim of this training is to inculcate basic principles of COVID-19 preparedness, management & mitigation among the trainees & to augment of teams working in each district to ensure supply of essential commodities to concerned households, screening at Red Zones enforcing lockdown etc.
He said that during the training programme, the volunteers will be made aware of their roles & responsibilities, in COVID-19 mitigations, management of Red Zone area, basics about signs & symptoms of COVID-19, types of diagnostic tests, community, surveillance & screening, tackling stigma & discrimination among patients, home quarantine protocol, personal safety etc.
Addressing the trainees present during the training programme, he said that important responsibility rests on shoulders of such trained COVID-19 warriors, as it is only a collective efforts that can push our society out of the challenge posed by the pandemic.
OSD Health & Medical Education Dr. Owais Ahmad on the occasion said that the ongoing training will further ensure that the already active force of volunteers & SDRF/Home guard are well prepared to tackle the challenge of COVID-19 pandemic.
Among others Dr.Sameer Matto, Director Health Services Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad, Commandant SDRF, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo, Deputy Director Health, Dr. Jitender Mehta Programme Manager NHM, & Lab Coordinator J&K, Dr. Jahangeer Bakshi , CMO Srinagar were present in the inaugural function.
