JAMMU, Dec 30: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today inaugurated a handicrafts exhibition (Hunar-E-Dastkar) organised by the department of Handicrafts at Kala Kendra here.
The inaugural function was attended by Director Handicraft, Mussarat Ul Islam, Joint Director Handicraft Jammu, Anju Gupta besides Assistant Directors of all the Districts of the Division and other officials of the department were also present on the occasion.
Handicraft Department and cooperative societies from all the districts of the division installed their stall of various handicraft products which includes Crewal, Sozni, Chamba, Tilla, Phoolkari, and Embroidery, Bamboo products, Basholi Painting, Kashmiri Pashmina, wooden craft items and other such products.
The Div Com, along with other officers took a round of each stall displaying various crafts of Jammu region during the exhibition and inquired about the qualities of the products.
He appreciated the efforts of the department and advised them to establish craft development institute to give training to the people besides organising workshops and exibitions. He also asked them for supporting enhanced production of handicraft articles having huge potential.
