District Admn Bandipora launches night operations to curb illegal mining

BANDIPORA, Sept 8: District Administration Bandipora in coordination with Police authorities, Bandipora launched night operations to curb the illegal mining in the district.
During the night operation at SK Bala with the active support of SHO Ajas, one L&T and one tipper involved in illegal mining was seized.
District Mineral Officer Bandipora informed that a continuous drive against illegal mining is in operation to stop the illegal mining in the district.
He informed that under the supervision of District Administration and active support of revenue and police, the department snapped all the approach links leading to the quarry belt. He informed that 04 vehicles indulged in illegal mining have been seized during this week and a fine of Rs 57000 have been realised from the offenders. He said the department seized 06 machines (L&Ts, JCBs) and 08 vehicles found to be indulged in illegal mining during odd hours and an amount of Rs 2 lakh has been realised during last month.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr. Owais Ahmed said that District Administration is tough against illegal mining and the aim of launching night operations is to crack whip on illegal mining in the district.
He said the drive against the illegal mining will continue and those involved shall be strictly dealt as per relevant sections of law.
He appealed general public to stay away from illegal mining and not to get involved in any unlawful activity.
