Displaced persons from PoJK real stakeholders: Dr Narinder

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Feb 23: Stating that February 22 was a historic day when Parliament of India adopted unanimous resolution asking Pakistan to vacate the areas of the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir, which they have illegally occupied through aggression, Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary, Dr. Narinder Singh said that uniting Pakistan Occupied Jammu Kashmir (PoJK) with India will ultimately someday become a reality.
Dr. Narinder Singh in statement said that till the spirit of the resolution comes true, the Government should involve the PoJK displaced persons in all important deliberations and decisions as they are the real stakeholders in the matters related to the illegally occupied parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Singh said that about 1/3rd people from PoJK have migrated to this part and hence they should be allotted eight seats out of reserved 24 Assembly seats for PoJK and should also have share in 4% reservation for Pahari people as they too belong to the areas housing population of such class. It would be a good step if one additional seat for Rajya Sabha (RS) is reserved against 24 Assembly seats for PoJK.
Dr. Narinder Singh said that Jammu and Kashmir is passing through a transitional phase and such steps for people of PoJK would obviously make them feel that they are not isolated as Government is really concerned for them.
He said that the BJP has always stood for the well being of the PoJK people and that Narendra Modi Government has sanctioned monetary compensation of significant amount for each displaced family which settled in Indian part of Jammu and Kashmir and the same is being distributed among them. This step has been taken by the Government of India to instill a sense of belonging and oneness of these unfortunate displaced people with the rest of the population of the State. This also demonstrates a genuine empathy and concern for the displaced people on part of the BJP which does not believe in lip sympathy and instead pursues those goals practically which it believes in, said Dr. Singh.
