SRINAGAR, June 27: Chairman District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kulgam Tahir Khurshid Raina (Principal District and Sessions Judge Kulgam) said today that it is disheartening to see the depth of drug menace in society.
Raina discussed some practical experiences with students with the hope that they will serve as ambassadors of DLSA Kulgam and spread its message in entire district. He was addressing the students of Government Degree College (GDC) Kulgam at a function organized in College premises.
The function was organized by DLSA Kulgam in collaboration with GDC Kulgam and District Health Services Kulgam. Secretary DLSA Kulgam Mchreen Mushtaq was also present on the occasion.
Earlier presenting welcome address, Principal GDC Kulgam raised concerns over growing drug menace while president Bar Association Mohd Shafi Bhat highlighted provisions of NDPS Act.
Incharge, Drug De-Addiction Centre Anantnag Mudasir stated that we need to understand that the drug abuse is a disease like any other disease and it needs treatment. She highlighted the role of parents in curbing this menace.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Kulgam Zahid presented statistical data through power point presentation and discussed various provisions governing the subject whereas Medical Officer District Hospital Kulgam Dr Aman Kucchay discussed health hazards and withdrawal symptoms.
