UDHAMPUR, Dec 24: A two day medical camp was organized today by Shri Durga Dass Memorial Society (SDDMS) in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services, Jammu at village Thial which was inaugurated by Director Health Services, Dr. Gurjeet Singh here today.
Dr. Singh said that the main objective of organising such health melas is to provide better healthcare facilities at the doorsteps of the common masses. He said that the Health Department is putting in its best efforts in providing adequate medicare to the people especially in the rural and remote pockets. He appreciated the efforts of SDDMS for organizing the camp for the benefit of the people and asked the society to continue its services with the same spirit and missionary zeal in future also.
As many as 3000 patients suffering from various ailments were examined during the first day of the camp and were provided free medical checkup.
Director Family welfare, Dr. Baldev Raj Sharma, MD J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Chairman SDDMS B.D Sharma, Project Director, AIDS, Dr Sameer Mattoo, CMO Udhampur, Dr. Chander Prakash, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Udhampur Narinder Bhutiyal, Tehsildar Majalta, BMO Majalta, senior doctors from Health Department besides a large number of people were present on the occasion.
