Directions issued for timely redressal of public grievances: IGP Jammu

JAMMU, Apr 30: All the Station House Officers (SHOs) of the Police Stations and Incharge Police Posts have been directed to redress genuine grievances of the common masses in a time bound manner.
This was disclosed by Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar while interacting with the public in a function held in the area of Sub-Division East.
“Bridging the gap between police and public is of much importance as such regular interactions between them should be held in different parts of the Jammu region”, the IGP said.
He assured the people that all preventive measures will be taken to curb the incidents of chain snatching, burglary and theft, adding cooperation will also be extended to the Traffic Police for better management of traffic.
“The directions have also been issued down the line to ensure issuance of character certificate verification within three days, service verification within seven days and passport verification within 10 days”, the IGP said, adding “SHOs and Incharge Police Posts have also been directed to work in coordination with Traffic Police to prevent road accidents”.
On the occasion, the participants raised many issues related to management of traffic in Jammu city, prevention of rash and negligent driving, verification of tenants and servants by the concerned police that too in a time bound manner.
DIG Jammu, SP Jammu, SDPO East and all the SHOs and Incharge Police Posts of Sub-Division East besides prominent citizens attended the function.
