JAMMU, Oct 14: The Diploma Engineers observed pen down strike across Jammu province.
At Jammu, All J&K Diploma Engineers Association observed pen down strike (No Work) at Bahu Plaza to lodge its protest against the discriminatory and callous attitude of the Government and present administration towards its long pending demands.
A protest was held at Jammu and at all the district headquarters. A large number of Diploma Engineers working at the level from Junior Engineer upto the rank of Executive Engineer participated in the protest. They alleged that the growing injustice and neglect to a cadre, which is rendering unique and significant services to every nook and corner of the state has become intolerable.
While addressing the gathering, President of the Association Er Upinder Singh warned the Government not to neglect this cadre anymore as today’s pen down strike is only a tip of the ice berg which will be followed by the further severe course of action.
He added that though the Association approached the successive Governments of the past and present, with regard to its demands, but their requests has always been turned a deaf ear.
Later a memorandum was submitted to the Divisional Commissioner for its onward submission to Chief Secretary having demands including adoption of Punjab pattern, maintenance of cadre strength (Release of backlog quota), restoration of entry level grade, enhancement of fixed TA and restoration of Grade-I.
Among others present were Er Anil Gupta, Er JS Rathore, Er Narinder Singh, Er KK Sharma and Er Arshad Parvez.
At Doda, one day pen down strike call given by all Jammu and Kashmir Diploma Engineers Association. A memorandum of demands was submitted to Deputy Commissioner Doda pertaining to their demands. Those present on the occasion were Abdul Haq Zargar, Irshad Ahmed Sheikh, Chanderkant, Ashiq Hussain Zargar, Faheem Raja Banday, Farooque Ahmed Balwan, Jamsheed Hussain Nehru, Tanveer Ahmed Gattu, Anchal Kumar and Mubashir Hussain.
At Bhaderwah, All J&K Diploma Engineers Association also held protest. Large numbers of engineers working in various Government departments including PHE, PDD, R&B and others assembled in Dak Bunglow and raised slogans in favour of their demands. The protest was held under the chairmanship of Er Farooq Ahmed Khan, District Chairman, Association of Junior Engineers. Among others present were Er Zaffar Ahmed Kellu, Er Abdul Quyoom Ganai, Er Neejebul Rehman, Er Rizwan Ahmed Wani, Er Javed Ahmed Tak, Er Mushtaq Ahmed, Er Mohd Ashraf Sheikh, Er Sheikh Sahir Rafiq, Er Rakesh Kumar, etc.
At Kishtwar, pen down strike was observed by All J&K Diploma Engineers Association. A memorandum was submitted to District Development Commissioner. MS Badyal, district president, Er Fand Ahmed, senior vice president, Er Syed Aijaz Ahmed, Er Irshad Ahmed Saroori, Er Naiz Ahmed, Er Abdul Gani Sheikh, besides many other diploma engineers were present on the occasion.
At Ramban, All J&K Diploma Engineers Association held a pen down strike and dharna. District President of the Association Tanveer Ahmed Wani addressed the gathering and highlighted the demands. Later, a memorandum of demands was submitted to DC Ramban.
