Instructions issued to transporters

Srinagar, Oct 14: In order to restore the flow of traffic in city Srinagar, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Maqsood-ul-Zaman has appe-aled transport operators to shun the practice of creating hurdles in the free flow of traffic and has issued series of traffic instructions.
A police spokesman said that the instructions include desist from resorting to frequent stops, ensure free access to ambulances, board/alight passengers at designated bus stops to ensure traffic movement is not affected, ensure not to stop within 200 feet from any road intersection effecting flow of traffic with particular reference along by pass, restrain from over charging the passengers and ensure proper behavior.
The instructions also include avoiding over speeding and restrict to speed limits, desist from resorting to overloading, both the driver and conductor shall necessarily wear the prescribed uniform, ensure services in accordance to the timings and schedules set by the transport department, ensure reservation quota set by the government for woman and handicapped persons, keep vehicles clean and tidy to avoid any inconvenience to the general public and to help restore the beauty of city Srinagar, strictly follow traffic signals and rules; at the site of a red signal stop at yellow line and ensure proper documentation of vehicles.
