Dingamb PHC sans staff to attend emergency

KATHUA, Jan 17: The Primary Health Centre (PHC) at tehsil headquarters, Dingamb is without staff to attend emergency cases during night hours.
The only PHC to cater to the need of nine Panchayats of the area in Kandi belt of Billawar constituency, is facing acute shortage of staff. Moreover, no staff is available during night hours to attend the emergency or delivery cases. Even the driver of the ambulance is not available.
Former Sarpanch, Kuldip Gupta told the Excelsior that tonight  he was called to the PHC by a villager, Hem Raj who arrived with his wife for delivery case from Nallah Thangar village at 9.15 pm. They knocked the doors of Hospital and after thorough search, found that no staff was there. Even the ambulance driver did not respond. The Ex-Sarpanch said that then he contacted BMO Hiranagar, Dr Omkar Sharma on phone, who asked to wait for some time but even after the wait of  his call for about 30 minutes, the patient was shifted to Hiranagar by him in his own vehicle.
He said that between Ramkot and Hiranagar, this is the only PHC between a distance of 34 kms and despite repeated requests to DyCM (concerned MLA)  and Director Health Services Jammu, the sanctioned staff has not been posted here. Moreover, there is no monitoring by BMO Hiranagar and CMO Kathua and staff remains absent. He sought intervention of Health Minister into the matter.
