DIG holds security review meeting ahead of Navratri festival

REASI, Sept 16: In view of forthcoming Navratri festival and visit of pilgrims at Shri Mata Vaishino Devi Shrine, Mohd Suleman Choudhary DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range conducted security review meeting at Katra.
The meeting was attended by Amit Gupta SSP Reasi, Commandant CRPF, SP Katra, SDPO Katra, DySP Bhawan, SHO Police Stations Katra and Bhawan and officers from Army, IB, CID, Railway and other intelligence agencies.
During the meeting special emphasis were given to ensure fool proof security of the yatries at track upto Bhawan in which strict directions have been passed to carryout thorough checking of all the suspected people, so that no unwanted elements is allowed to indulge in any kind of criminal activities. Besides this, joint long range patrols of JKP and CRPF have also been launched round the clock in the entire area of Katra and Bhawan and its surrounding areas.
In the meeting, SSP Reasi presented a detailed security grid in place for Katra town, discussed various security measures going to be placed in view of Navratri Festival, enroute and the SMVD Shrine.
DIG highlighted upon the major challenge for the deployed security forces in coming days is to manage fool proof protective measures for Navratri festival at SMVD Shrine at Katra.
Suleman reviewed each and every security drill of the Shrine, yatra enroute, safety and security of pilgrims visiting to pay obeisance to the Shrine on daily basis and huge volume of visitors during the festival.
Deputy Inspector General of Police also directed to conduct joint security drill with CAPF for security of the shrine and mentioned it as top priority of police of this jurisdiction.
Further, he directed all concerned officers to revisit the list of OGWs of the Police Stations, monitoring of social media including Facebook, WhatsApp to curb the new pattern of radicalization.
