JAMMU, Oct 26: Different organizations here today celebrated Diwali with fervor and gaiety.
Vimal Muni College of Education, Vijaypur celebrated Diwali wherein poster and Rangoli making competition on the theme ‘Pollution Free Diwali’ was held. Colourful earthen lamps enhanced beauty of Rangolis. College Chairperson, Anu Gupta and Principal, Seema Mohan extended Diwali greetings to staff and the students.
Pre-Diwali function ‘Tejaswi-2019’ was organized by Institute of Management Sciences, Jammu wherein various competitions like Rock Art, Mishthan Bhandhar, Skin Art, Jewellery and Rangoli making and photography contests were held. Group dances, group songs and Bollywood Ramp Walk were other programmes performed by the students. Dean Academic, Prof. S.K Gupta; Chief Coordinator, Nidhi Jamwal and Prof. S.K Gupta extended Diwali greetings to the students and staff and distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions. Aarti of deities like Lakshmi and Ganesha was also performed.
Jammu Sanskriti School celebrated weeklong Diwali festival with gusto. The event began with special assembly in which skit was presented on the mythological tale of Diwali which highlighted some beliefs and customs associated with the festival. The students pledged to have pollution free and eco-friendly Diwali. Activities like Diya decoration, Rangoli competition on theme ‘Go Green’ were held and the celebrations concluded with the visit to Old Age Home where students shared sweets, gifts and beautiful messages with the inmate elders. Rohini Aima, Principal cum Vice-Chairperson of the School extended Diwali greetings to all.
Bhartiya Vidhya Mandir, Katra celebrated Diwali with fervour and gaiety wherein the Principal of the School, Rajesh Kumar explained students about the importance of Diwali. Gifts and sweets were also distributed among the students. Later the students also visited Katra hospital and celebrated Diwali there too.
At a function in Akhnoor Fort, cops at Police Station Akhnoor celebrated Diwali with paramilitary jawans deputed in the town where driver and co-drivers of Kashmir bound trucks also joined. The programme was organized under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor, DySP, Ajay Sharma who interacted with the truck drivers and co-drivers and offered them sweets.
Sangram Sena organized a grand programme at Ved Mandir, Bal Ashram on the eve of Diwali under the leadership of its president, R.K Raina. Sweets, books, crackers and other gift were distributed to inmates of Bal Ashram. On this occasion, Vikas Sharma, VC JDA was the chief guest and guest of honour was Rattan Lal Gupta, President Ware House Association.
