SRINAGAR, Oct 6: District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Srinagar with the support of Divisional Disaster Management Authority Kashmir and Civil Defence Srinagar organized a five day school safety and disaster preparedness training for 50 teachers, drawn from various Government Middle Schools of Srinagar district.
The teachers were imparted training in first-aid, fire-fighting, search and rescue by Abdul Gaffar Chief Instructor, Nazir Ahmed and Mohammed Sarwar Civil Defence Trainers. A mock drill was also organized on the occasion and teachers handled the fire extinguishers. Abdul Jabbar Chakat, Secretary, Regional Red Cross Committee and Mohammed Rafiq, Deputy Controller Civil Defence also interacted with the teachers.
The valedictory function was held at Bemina, where Aamir Ali, Head Disaster Management and OSD with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir was the Chief Guest. Principal DIET Srinagar, Syed Aijaz Qalandar presided over the function.
