SRINAGAR, Aug 22: The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir successfully hosted the 5th annual conference of Jammu and Kashmir State Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India. The conference was held under the patronage of Director Health Dr Samir Matto.
An official said here that the event started with a live operative workshop on August 19 at JLNM Hospital Rainawari by masters of the craft including Prof Muneer Khan, Prof RK Chrungoo, Prof Nisar Chowdri, Dr Anil Sharma, Dr Shiva K Misra, Dr Manish Baijal and Dr Arvind Kumar.
Eminent Faculty of the State chaired various sessions of the operative workshop.
The inaugural ceremony was held at Auditorium of Government Dental College. The Minister for Health, Medical Education, ARI and Trainings Lal Singh was the chief guest. Minister of State for Health and Social welfare Asiya Naqash and Secretary Association of Surgeons of India Dr Shiva K Misra were the guests of honour, he said.
The chief guest in his lecture appreciated the efforts of the organizing secretaries and advised to isolate black sheep in the medical fraternity. Asiya Naqash in her lecture emphasized the need for encouraging such academic activities and also appreciated the efforts of the organizers. Dr Shiva K Misra in his lecture patted Dr Vaqar and Dr Akhter for holding such a national level conference in Srinagar.
