NAGROTA, July 27: The sit-in-dharna by Sangarash Samiti, a newly formed organisation of the people of Nagrota, today entered fifth day with the aggrieved people of the Nagrota Assembly Constituency questioning over the muteness of the administration with regard to delay in the construction of Government Degree College.
The College had been approved by the State Administrative Council last year alongside other 40 such colleges including those of Nagrota and Sidhra. Subsequently, Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education Department had laid the foundation with much fanfare in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Jammu, other officers and prominent citizens of the constituency and the stone-laying plaque at the site speaks volumes about administrative apathy of the government in general and the department concerned in particular, stated the protesting Sarpanch and Paches of the Katal Batal Panchayat.
Led by Block National Conference President Rameshwar Dutt, the protestors vowed to continue their stir till the government comes clear on the confusion created by vested interests about relocation of the college and mysterious delay in execution of the work.
“We are not going to lie low, come what may”, Block National Conference President Rameshwar Dutt said, adding that the insensitivity of the administration has touched low depths as nobody is coming forward to clear the stand and assure about the resumption of work on the college despite the locals braving scorching humidity of the monsoon and ongoing COVID-19 times with the single motivation of securing the future of their children.
The protestors cautioned the administration to stop testing the patience of the people of Nagrota and understand the gravity of the situation created by inept handling by the officers concerned at the behest of their political mentors with sinister motivation of sabotaging the project.
Prominent among those who staged sit-in-dharna included Rekha Jamwal, Sarpanch Kattalbatal, Ved Kumar , Panch, Mehar Singh Panch, Harbans Lal, Panch, Parveen Bibi Panch, Anju Patyal, Panch, ex-Sarpanch Kulbushan Singh, Ravi Singh, Panch, Ram Lal, Ajay Kumar, Subash Chander, Joginder Kumar, Koushal Khajuria, Divya Sharma, Kunti Devi, Ashok Thakur, Sanjay Sharma, Shubam Sharma and others.
