DGPC seeks suspension of SHO Poonch for torture of cop

JAMMU, June 5: District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC) Jammu has demanded suspension of SHO Poonch for the `third degree torture’ of a Sikh community Police Constable.
Talking to media persons here today, DGPC Jammu president Ranjeet Singh Tohra, flanked by vice president Balvinder Singh, secretary Surjit Singh and Harjeet Singh ( Member) said that they were pained watch the viral video of a Sikh Constable Jagvinder Singh in Police Station Poonch. They alleged that the Sikh policeman was said to have been tortured by SHO Poonch, Insp Rao and PSI Arun Singh.
Expressing strong resentment over the act of Police Officers in the Police Station, the DGPC Jammu members demanded a high level inquiry into the matter and suspension of the SHO and another officers involved in such third degree torture of the Constable Jagvinder Singh.
Referring to the incident, Balvinder Singh said that they brought all the details about the incident and found that this Cop was going to deliver medicines at home for his ailign mother. On the way he saw clash in two groups and he tried to mediate and stop the clash. The SHO and a PSI also arrived there and started abusing Jagvinder and dragged him to police station where they beat him up badly. He said Jagwinder is local of the area and an ace sports person in the field of boxing. There is strong resentment among the local people at Poonch and especially among the Sikh community.
They described it as misuse of power by officers at Poonch Police Startion and demanded that DGP must order an inquiry into the matter and take action against the SHO and the PSI. A complaint to the Union Home Ministry and National Human Rights Commission with evidence is also being forwarded, they added.
