JAMMU, July 23: District Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (DGPC) appealed to the Government of India and Government of Punjab to concede the demands put forth by Surat Singh Khalsa and release the Sikh detainees forthwith in order to send a message of peace and harmony among the Sikh community.
Addressing a press conference, Avtar Singh Khalsa, Feteh Singh, Ramneek Singh, Raja Singh and Darbinder Singh, members, DGPC said that Sikhs sacrificed the most for this country which perhaps has been forgotten by those who claim to be the true nationalists these days.
They requested Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal to take necessary steps to assuage the feelings of the Sikh community world over.
They further stated that RSS and BJP are trying to create a sense of insecurity among all the minorities in the country.
They added that the Sikhs will not allow the interest of minority community to be compromised at the hands of the dubious characters, who are active in a prejudicial manner against the spirit of Panth for their own vested interest.
Sikhs are highly enlightened community and will not allow the community to fall into the trap of communal and fascists’ forces, they added.
